How to Connect to the STNYLUG IRC Channel

Begin by downloading and installing an IM client (such as GAIM, Pidgin, Kopete) that can handle IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

The server is chat.freenode.net and the channel is #stnylug irc://chat.freenode.net/#stnylug In Ubuntu, I was able to simply click on that link in firefox and I was joined automatically in pidgin (though I did have an IRC account setup already).
